How Information flows through Linkedin

Institute: Linkedin Labs

Link: http://inmaps.linkedinlabs.com/

Developed by Linkedin Labs, InMaps provides a visual representation of your professional Linkedin universe. This appealing visualization tool allows anyone with a Linkedin account to map their professional ties and is a great way to understand the relationship patterns between you and your entire set of LinkedIn connections.
The map is color-coded to represent different affiliations or groups from your professional career, such as your previous employer, college classmates, or industries you've worked in. Bigger names represent people who are the most connected within that specific cluster or group. When you click on a contact within a circle you'll see their profile pop up on the right, as well as lines highlighting how they're connected to your connections.

Circle of trust and Google Plus

Institution: D3

1. How asymmetric is your relationship network at Google Plus?
2. Is there a way to visualize how each person is using and constructing this social environment?

With these two questions in mind, D3 is giving you a good real example of how the brand new Google+ API can be used now at its early stages. The idea came from something that Jack Byrnes, character of the movie Meet the Parents, likes to call The Circle of Trust. With a free interpretation of Jack’s theory, D3 made a simple algorithm to visualize who are the people that are inside your circle of trust and who are the people out.

It all boils down to this: Green are the people you have circled and they have circled you back, yellow is for people that you cared to circle but they didn’t, and red is for people that have circled you but you didn’t care to circle back.
The Circle of Trust is an interface data-visualization experiment using Google+ API and HTML5.

Some examples are:

Here is where you can build your circle of trust:
